R.I.P Jean

Those of you who have been taking the watercolor class with me at the senior center from the beginning will remember my friend, Jean Cunningham.  She was the quiet lady in the back, who painted the nice, loose watercolors.  You may not know that Jean was the reason that the watercolor class existed.  She had mentioned to me several times that the center used to have an art class, but hadn't for a number of years, and that she missed it.  She suggested that I start a class.  I said no.  Several times.  But she persisted, and I agreed to do it for 6 weeks, just to see if I could do it, and if anyone but Jean would come.  Hahaha.  And I have been doing it ever since.  Jean also taught the tap class at the senior center, for I don't know how many, many years.  I took her class for at least 15 or 16 years.  She was a professional dancer with the Roxy Theater way, way back, and tapped with the Happy Tappers/Syncopated Seniors until she turned 80.  She retired from teaching when she turned 90.  Jean had 10 children, 35 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren.  She passed away on Friday.

  1. RIP dear Jeanne. I will always remember how I loved her unique style of water coloring, but never could duplicate!!
