The photo is not as complicated as it looks. Just draw the major sections
1. sky
2. lots of trees crowded into one big shape
3. Big green tree, small yellow green tree, little orange shrub
4. grass with two paths (you can leave those out if you wish)
5. forground scrub grass/weeds
I finally got a photo of one of my drawings that was straight, and without a shadow from me or my lamp, and it's BLURRY! Wel, I think you can still see what I had in mind.I painted the sky right over the distant mountain, with cobalt blue. You can use any blue you have.
The grass is sap green. Let this dry.
I used yellow ochre, alone and mixed with cadmium red, some very diluted brown (maybe burnt umber), and cadmium yellow - I started painting the colors that I saw but eventually just winged it.
I used yellow ochre mixed with burnt umber?? for the bottom patch of weeds and dirt. Let it dry.
I mixed some dark green from sap green and ultramarine blue, and dotted in some evergreen trees in between the fall colors. I also darkened the areas of grass under the trees where there would be shade.
I painted the three "large" trees, yellow ochre + cad red for the little one, lemon yellow and sap green for the middle one, and sap green + ultramarine blue for the large evergreen. Almost done.
I put shadows on the three trees, using darker versions of the first wash. I darkened anything that looked like it needed it. I put some branches in orange and yellow green trees, and put a few twigs and weeds in the foreground.
I'M MAKING THIS A TWO WEEK PROJECT.
